Special Information
Helpful Hints
  • REWRITES - ALWAYS Call U/W for pre-approval if the customer has had a prior Explorer policy

  • Salvaged vehicles can be insured for liability only coverage (no comprehensive/collision coverage)

  • Years Licensed - use approximate date Issued from MVR (but no earlier than 16th birthday)

  • We provide coverage based on covered auto Symbol # 7 (Scheduled Auto.) Applicants can purchase additional coverage such as Symbol #8 (Hired Auto) and Symbol #9 (Non-Owned Auto.) We do not offer Symbol #1 (Any Auto) or Symbol #2 (All Owned Auto.) On an exception basis, we can indicate Symbol #2 on a certificate if we can verify that Explorer insures all the commercial and personal vehicles owned by applicant/household on this policy.

  • MVR - we go by violation, not conviction date. We charge for equipment tickets, but not seatbelts.

  • We no longer require an excluded spouse to sign an exclusion form unless it is midterm exclusion.

  • SR-22 filings - Available only to the insured, spouse or dependent relative - Explorer must insure all vehicles registered to named insured (& spouse if married)

  • You may write a policy for a driver with a license from another state as long as the MVR can be obtained. We will require proof that the insured has obtained a CA license at least 60 days prior to renewal date to avoid non-renewal.

Payment Options to help avoid cancellations and loss of account:
Autopay - The ClassicPlan Autopay system sets the insured up to have the monthly payment automatically deducted from their checking account. Complete the Autopay (see Auto Payment Form) form, attach a void check from the account the payments are to be deducted, and submit to ClassicPlan. This option is available anytime during the term of the loan.

Pay by Phone - The insured or producer can call the ClassicPlan customer service department with their checking account information and submit a payment.

Pay by Fax - The insured or producer can fax a copy of the check made payable to ClassicPlan to submit payment. The fax number is 909-628-5490.

Pay by Web - The insured or producer can visit our web site at www.classicplan.com and submit a payment using their checking account.

Western Union Quick Collect - The insured can visit any Western Union office to submit a payment using the Western Union Quick Collect system. They will need the funds to cover the payment and their ClassicPlan loan number.

Cancellation Delay - The producer can call or fax ClassicPlan and request that the mailing of the cancellation notice to the carrier(s) be delayed. In this instance ClassicPlan can delay the mailing to the notice up to 4 days (depending on weekends, holidays, etc.) after the cancellation date.

Payment Guarantee - The producer can call or fax ClassicPlan and guarantee payment on the account(s). ClassicPlan will stop the cancellation process and the producer must submit their trust check for the payment(s).
